Directions from the North

Get onto I-81.  (From the DC area, that will mean taking I-66 west till it ends at I-81 a little past Front Royal.)

Take it south to exit 273 at Mr. Jackson.  At the top of the exit ramp, turn right and take that road (Conicville Road = 703) a couple of miles till it ends at a stop sign at a T-stop.  Take a left at the stop sign (614) for probably less than two miles until it comes to a stop sign at Hwy. 263 (= Orkney Grade).  Take a right at the stop sign.

You will take 263 perhaps seven miles.  In the course of those seven miles, you’ll cross Hwy. 42, and just past 42 you’ll twist through the tiny burg of Macanie, after which soon you’ll be mostly climbing for more than a mile.

You’re going to be looking to turn off of 263 onto Supinlick Ridge Road (= 611), BUT YOU WANT TO TAKE IT LEFT, I.E. SOUTH, NOT RIGHT (NORTH).  I emphasize that because you’ll see a road by that name going off to the right several hundred yards before you come to the left turn that you want.

The left turn onto Supinlick Ridge Road (611) comes just about at the top of a long hill, just before the road goes steeply downhill.  You’ll have just passed a place called Sky Chalet and one called The Pines on the right.  And then, as the road bends rightward, the left turn is there, almost like going straight.

When you get onto Supinlick Ridge / 611, take a look at your odometer and then go 3.8 miles. You’ll know you are just 0.6 miles from our house when you cross a road called Hepner and see a beautiful old log cabin on your right.  At 3.8 miles, you’ll see a little blue street sign on the right that reads, “Sunset Ridge LN.”  Turn right there.  It’s a dirt road that heads mostly downhill.

We are the first and second driveways on the right off Sunset Ridge, and our house is a blue chalet.  Within fifty yards (which includes a sharp left-ward curve) you’ll come to our first driveway. Go past the first driveway and park just beyond the second driveway, and walk down to our house.
